Individual and Community Self-Defense Workshop

Saturday, August 19, 1-3pm

As part of the current Take Back the Fight: Resisting Sexual Violence from the Ground Up exhibition, the Interference Archive is partnering with the Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) to host a Peer Educator Self-Defense Workshop.

Youth Peer Educators from CAE will lead an exciting and participatory self defense workshop. In this workshop, participants will learn how to protect themselves using physical self defense techniques, the power of their voice, and engaging in activism.

This workshop is open to girls, transyouth, women, and LGBTQ+ identified folks and is limited to 20 participants. If you would like to participate, please RSVP at: info@interferencearchive.org

The Center for Anti-Violence Education develops and implements comprehensive violence prevention programs for individuals and organizations. Through a combination of education, physical training and leadership development, CAE provides underserved communities with skills to break cycles of violence. CAE focuses on underserved women, pre-teen/teen girls and LGBTQ youth.  http://caeny.org/

This workshop, as part of the exhibition Take Back the Fight, is funded in part with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered in Kings County by Brooklyn Arts Council.
