New Reading Group on James “Yaki” Sayles

As part of Interference Archive’s upcoming exhibition, Self-Determination Inside/Out, we’re hosting a reading group for James ‘Yaki’ Sayles’s Meditations on Wretched of the Earth. This is a reinterpretation of Frantz Fanon’s 1961 book by Sayles, one of the leaders and intellectual heavyweights of the New Afrikan Prisoners Organization (NAPO). We’re aiming for a supportive, collective study and learning environment.  You do not have to be familiar with NAPO or have read Wretched of the Earth to participate!

Reading group sessions will take place at Interference Archive, at 4:30pm on five Saturdays: 9/27, 10/11, 10/25, 11/8, and 11/25. The final meeting may be offsite.

We have a healthy (40%) discount from Kersplebedeb- if you’re interested in purchasing a copy ($12 with discount!), even if you can’t commit to the reading group, please get in touch with Anika Paris (anika dot paris at gmail dot com).  Payments can be made to Anika with paypal or cash.  September 14 is the deadline to give us your payment for the discounted copy of the book.

Self-Determination Inside/Out is opening Thursday, September 11th, 7 to 10 pm- we would love to see you there!
