6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Join us for an archival workshop and discussion on the topic of 1970s “counter professional” networks, activism and publishing. We’ll explore the rich legacy of materials such as journals, bulletins and magazines that different groups formed as part of their organizing efforts to bring about change both within and leveraged from their individual professions as well as in connection with broader community and activist efforts.
A visiting PhD researcher Arielle (@peoplespapers) will share an introduction to the topic and overview of some materials in the archive based on her research on 1970s NYC and London and then we’ll be joined by a roundtable of speakers sharing more about historical and ongoing efforts of specific groups such as Science for the People and the Planners Network. This will be followed by an open discussion and, if time allows, an exploration of materials in the archive.
