In every community and movement for justice across the world, kids continue to be key holders of joy, strength, and so much more — so we’re hosting a space to strengthen global kid-to-kid solidarity by inviting the Comando palomitas (or the Popcorn Brigade) to bring their Zapatista community to our neighborhoods next!
Comando palomitas are five kids who help the Zapatistas organize against occupation and for land justice, and represent the importance of intergenerational solidarity in the fight for self-determination in and beyond Mexico.
After the Zapatistas travel through Europe, we’d love for them to visit us on la Isla Tortuga, or Turtle Island, and engage in exchange on how kids in every community strengthen relationships with lands and each other.
Taking a cue from the Zapatistas themselves, we’re folding planes and boats to invite Comando palomitas to hang out with us!
Join us for an afternoon of paper-folding and popcorn-eating at Sunset Park on April 24 at 1:30PM! Interference Archive will have materials ready for you and your young ones to engage in creative learning and reflection.

En cada comunidad y movimiento por la justicia en todo el mundo, los niños siguen siendo los poseedores clave de la alegría, la fuerza y mucho más, por lo que estamos organizando un espacio para fortalecer la solidaridad global de niño a niño invitando a Comando palomitas ( o la Brigada Palomitas) para visitar nuestros barrios próximamente!
Comando Palomitas son cinco niños y niñas zapatistas que representan la importancia de la solidaridad intergeneracional en la lucha por la autodeterminación dentro y fuera de México.
Después de que los zapatistas viajen por Europa, nos encantaría que nos visitaran en NY y en la Isla Tortuga e intercambiaran opiniones sobre cómo los niños y niñas de cada comunidad fortalecen las relaciones con la tierra y entre ellxs.
Siguiendo el ejemplo de los mismos zapatistas, ¡fabricaremos aviones y barcos de papel para invitar al Comando palomitas y a los zapatistas a que vengan a conocer nuestros territorios.
¡Únase a nosotros para armar aviones y barcos de papel y comer palomitas de maíz en Sunset Park el 24 de abril a la 1:30 p.m.! Interference Archive tendrá materiales listos para que usted y sus jóvenes participen en el aprendizaje creativo y la reflexión.
