NYC Tenants’ Know Your Rights

New York City has high housing costs, but also some of the strongest rent protection laws in the country. The laws are complex, and your rights as a tenant can change dramatically depending on the type of housing you live in. This presentation will cover the most important rights of NYC tenants in various housing types, and what to do if these rights are being violated. Following the presentation there will be an open question-and-answer period.
The presenter, Mario Mazzoni, was formerly the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Council on Housing, where he worked to strengthen New York’s rent protection laws. He also formerly worked for Housing Court Answers, where he provided information and assistance to unrepresented tenants in New York’s Housing Courts.
