Parents, kids, and families of all forms! Radical Playdate continues with two more playdates this summer.
Radical Playdate has been in full effect since February 2017. So far, we’ve made a zine, we made stencil graphics, created a growing resource list of music and storybooks, and we even had a little music protest parade. Now, we’d like to talk more about how we can make Radical Playdate more “radical,” and to expand our all-ages community. If you’ve been thinking of showing up, now is the time to do that!
August 12 will have an open discussion about radical parenting. What does it mean to be a radical parent or caretaker of young people? What are some ways we can be even more radical? And how can we cultivate this practice through Radical Playdates at Interference Archive? Let’s share ideas, and build together.
Radical Playdate was born out of this “now more than ever” moment in which we recognize participation by everyone is a vital part of social change. RPD is helping Interference Archive explore ways to be more family-inclusive in hopes of growing our community. We want to make the archive’s materials and its events more accessible to people with childcare responsibilities, and also make social movement building a part of little ones’ lives as early as possible. Radical Playdates are a step in that direction. We would love for you to be a part of it.
All ages are welcome. We have storybooks and toys for little ones, and there is stencil-making and drawing for older kids. We have paper and drawing utensils, but we encourage you to bring some, too. Also, please feel free to bring a book, a snack, or a drink to share, but it is not at all required. You are most welcome as you are.
If you have any questions, or if you have idea for specific programming you would like to contribute–a song, an activity, etc.–please email info@interferencearchive.org, otherwise see you there!
