We're moving!!

August 31, 2017

We have some exciting, important news:
WE’RE MOVING!
Just under a month ago we were presented with what on the face of it felt like a challenge but now feels horizon-expanding—a notice to vacate our current space effective September 1, 2017. Our building had been sold. We suspected something like this could happen—though not on this timeline—so we had already started researching and scoping out new spaces.
So, where are we going? We’ve lucked out and negotiated a long-term lease on a storefront space just three blocks from our current location, off 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We’ll have a storefront. More room. More accessibility. And a long-term home (we have a 10 year lease!).
What does this mean?
First, our schedule is going to change for a few weeks. We’ll be rocking out at our block party this Saturday—I hope you can stop by!—and we’ll be open our regular hours (12-5pm) on Sunday, September 3rd. That’ll be the last time to see us in our current space, and to check out our Take Back the Fight exhibition before we move it to our new home.
Second, we’d love your help! Watch this email list for requests for your hands to lift boxes, build shelves, and more. If you want to be in touch with us about any assistance you can provide for our move—maybe you have a truck to loan us?!— please send us an email at info@interferencearchive.org.
Third, rental rates have gone up since we first found a home for IA. So while we’re super stoked about the possibilities for the new space, we are working hard to cover a steep increase in rental costs, build-out expenses, and moving costs. We’ll be launching a fundraising campaign in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled and tell your friends!
Finally: we are SO EXCITED! We can’t wait to welcome you into our new home. We’re currently aiming for a re-opening at the end of October, but we’ll share more info as that date approaches. And in the meantime, if you want a glimpse inside the space before then—or want one last visit to our old home this month—you can definitely come help us pack!
