Radical Discipline: Exploring the Reasons Children Are Punished, and Alternative Suggestions
Saturday, June 16, 3pm-4:30pm
Radical Playdate presents an open and personal caregiver discussion about disciplining and punishing children—is there ever a need to punish children? How were we punished as children, and what repercussions did that have on us? What are some alternative models for punishment that we can employ as radical caregivers? To clarify, “caregiver” can mean parent, babysitter, and anyone within a family or community entrusted with the care of children—in other words, most of us!

To frame our discussion, China Martens has generously shared an issue of her exploratory zine on radical parenting, The Future Generation #5, Part II: Discipline. You are invited to download and read this issue in preparation for this discussion.
During this discussion, we will provide a playspace for little tikes (ages 0-3-ish) and drawing-based activities for older kiddos (ages 4-8-ish). We welcome children to participate in this discussion as well.
Suggested donation for this event: $5
No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
